Tax Deferments

For 2026, the Boulder County Treasurer has been placed in charge of tax deferments under Senate Bill 25-261, which was passed in 2025. The application process is now the responsibility of the Treasurer. This is a very important responsibility since seniors and active-duty military personnel are directly affected by this program. Bill is no stranger to these types of programs. His work with Veteran’s Upward Bound included a number of these types of programs that helped our veterans. Bill focused on assisting veterans in finding viable employment after discharge. These types of programs are not based on “crisis-management” but are a part of the excellent fiscal position of the county. As its Treasurer, Bill looks forward to being an integral part of keeping the Boulder County economy strong.

Van Dusen has been involved in both the private and public sectors throughout his career and currently sits on the boards of El Comite de Longmont and the Gateway Montessori School. “I very much enjoy working in the public sector and look forward to bringing my knowledge of fiscal management, including tax processes and procedures to bear in my position as Boulder County Treasurer”, Van Dusen said.
