BILL VAN DUSEN BOULDER COUNTY TREASURER AND PUBLIC TRUSTEE

A Forward-Thinking Platform for Boulder County's FutureBill Van Dusen

As Boulder County Treasurer and Public Trustee, I'll prioritize fiscal responsibility that supports our progressive values—reducing foreclosures, streamlining taxes, and investing in community resilience.

I'll leverage my 30+ years in tax and debt resolution law to prioritize equitable, proactive management of deeds of trust and foreclosures. Here's my focused plan:

Implement digital processing to reduce release times by 50%, ensuring faster, error-free service for homeowners who've paid off loans—promoting efficiency and homeownership stability.

Launch targeted programs reaching 2,000 at-risk households annually, achieving a 70% intervention success rate through free counseling and lender negotiations, cutting overall foreclosures by 30% over four years.

Provide multilingual resources and partnerships with community nonprofits for underserved areas, aiming to resolve 90% of foreclosure cases without auctions—fostering fairness in east county communities like Longmont.

Create a public online portal tracking all Public Trustee activities in real-time, with quarterly reports on metrics like foreclosure rates and resolution outcomes—building trust through open data.

Leverage my legal expertise to facilitate debt resolutions and counseling, aiming to cut foreclosures by 20% through proactive support, keeping families in their homes amid rising costs.

Van Dusen has been involved in both the private and public sectors throughout his career and currently sits on the boards of El Comite de Longmont and the Gateway Montessori School. “I very much enjoy working in the public sector and look forward to bringing my knowledge of fiscal management, including tax processes and procedures to bear in my position as Boulder County Treasurer”, Van Dusen said.
