Because I have grown up in Boulder County, I understand the unique needs of the area. I’ve dedicated my career to turning complex fiscal challenges into community wins. As a seasoned attorney and public servant, I’m ready to safeguard your tax dollars with integrity and innovation.
- As a tax attorney, I have 30+ years in tax and business law: Guiding families and businesses through IRS compliance, debt resolution, and strategic planning to minimize stress and maximize outcomes.
- I have been a Public Service Leader throughout my career:
- Chaired Longmont’s Planning and Zoning Commission;
- served on boards for El Comite de Longmont and Gateway Montessori School;
- Longmont Multi-model Transportation Committee member;
- Chair of the North Boulder Environmental Health Task Force; coordinated veteran job training programs.
- I am an educator & Coalition Builder and in my various positions, I have developed skills at bridging divides for positive solutions:
- Professor in Business Ethics;
- former Deputy District Attorney and Assistant Attorney General.
In Boulder County, where innovation meets community, I’ll ensure our Treasurer’s office reflects our values—efficient, inclusive, and forward-thinking.
Van Dusen has been involved in both the private and public sectors throughout his career and currently sits on the boards of El Comite de Longmont and the Gateway Montessori School. “I very much enjoy working in the public sector and look forward to bringing my knowledge of fiscal management, including tax processes and procedures to bear in my position as Boulder County Treasurer”, Van Dusen said.
